E3 Group’s greenhouse gas emissions are calculated by FORLIANCE based on the GHG Protocol and using emission factors provided by Biogenic Emission Inventory System, Ecoinvent, the International Energy Agency, ÖKOBAUDAT and the German Environment Agency. E3 Group’s carbon footprint includes companies that are under E3 Holding’s operative control. In the case of acquisitions made during the course of the year, these figures include full-year data to improve comparability. Scope 3 emissions for Konrad Böhnlein have not been recognised so far. For other companies, scope 3 emissions include exclusively upstream supply chain processes. E3 Group aims to constantly improve the data basis for its carbon footprint calculation.2

Konrad Böhnlein is not included in these consolidated figures because no scope 3 data has been collected for the company for 2023.

Intensities are not calculated because E3 Holding does not generate any revenue of its own.

Energy consumption, including renewable energy consumption, encompasses not only purchased energy and stationary combustion but now also the fuel consumption of company cars. Where required, prior-year values have been adjusted accordingly. Consumption values for company cars are based on the estimated kilometres travelled and average consumption.

The data is based on structured internet research on group companies and their key suppliers. Key suppliers are primarily direct suppliers (tier 1) of goods and services that are essential to the core business of the procuring company. When looking at the accountability for controversial acts by these suppliers, the extent to which the procuring company can influence the supplier and/or switch to alternative suppliers is also taken into consideration. The research did not yield any findings about group companies participating in violations. Similarly, the research did not yield any evidence of violations at key suppliers whom the group companies could have influenced to a significant extent.
